Meet Your Guide

Helping women discover what they're capable of.

Valkyrie Adventures was created to help women build confidence outdoors through guided hiking, backcountry experiences, and shared adventure.

Hi, I'm Kerry Mannette, founder of Valkyrie Adventures.

Like many women, my love of the outdoors didn't begin with grand expeditions or extraordinary achievements. It began one step at a time through hiking, camping, skiing, travel, and a growing curiosity about what existed beyond the places that felt comfortable and familiar.

In my professional life, I work as a senior leader in the technology sector. Like many of the women who join Valkyrie Adventures, I understand the demands of balancing a career, responsibilities, family commitments, and everyday life while still making time for personal growth, adventure, and connection.

Over the years, the outdoors became more than a hobby. It became a place to challenge myself, develop resilience, find clarity, and reconnect with what mattered most.

Along the way, I became an Outdoor Council of Canada Certified Field Leader, completed Advanced Wilderness First Aid training, and spent countless hours exploring Nova Scotia's trails, coastlines, and backcountry routes. But the most valuable lessons I've learned didn't come from certifications. They came from time spent outdoors with other women.

I've learned that most women are capable of far more than they believe.

I've watched women complete trails they never thought they could hike. I've seen women carry backpacks they didn't think they could carry. I've watched complete strangers become trusted friends after sharing a day on the trail or a night in the backcountry together.

Again and again, I've seen confidence grow through experience. I've seen it happen on Nova Scotia's coastal trails, forest paths, and backcountry routes, often in women who arrived convinced they weren't ready.

That's why I created Valkyrie Adventures.

Not simply to guide hikes.

To create supportive outdoor experiences where women can challenge themselves, gain practical experience, build confidence, and connect with others who share a love of adventure.

Whether you're taking your very first steps on a hiking trail, tackling a longer and more challenging route, or preparing for your first overnight backcountry adventure, you'll be supported every step of the way.
